Not every room has a perfect flat wall begging for a TV. Sometimes the best — or only — option is a corner. Corner TV mounting is one of our most requested services across Kennesaw, Marietta, Woodstock, and Metro Atlanta, and for good reason: it maximizes space, works with awkward room layouts, and can create the perfect viewing angle for L-shaped seating arrangements.
But corner mounting comes with unique challenges — stud access, mount selection, and cable routing all require special consideration. Here's everything you need to know.
Why Mount a TV in a Corner?
- Space efficiency: Corners are often dead space — a mounted TV puts them to work
- L-shaped rooms: A corner TV is visible from both sides of an L-shaped living/dining area
- Small rooms: Wall-mounting in a corner eliminates the need for a TV stand, freeing floor space
- Multiple viewing areas: A full-motion corner mount can swivel to face different seating zones
- Fireplace corners: Many homes have fireplaces in corners — the TV goes above naturally
Best TV Mounts for Corner Installation
Full-Motion Articulating Mount (Recommended)
This is the only mount type we recommend for true corner installations. A full-motion mount lets you:
- Pull the TV away from the corner so it faces the room
- Swivel to angle toward different seating areas
- Push flat when not in use to keep a low profile
- Tilt down if mounted high
Corner-Specific Mounts
Some manufacturers make mounts with angled wall plates specifically designed for corner mounting. These bolt to both walls of the corner, distributing weight across four stud contact points.
What NOT to Use in a Corner
- Fixed mounts: The TV faces the corner at a 45° angle — unwatchable from any seating position
- Tilt-only mounts: Same problem as fixed — the TV points into the corner, not the room
📐 Corner Mounting Geometry
When you mount on a single wall near a corner, you need a full-motion arm long enough to pull the TV past the adjacent wall. For example:
- 55" TV: Minimum 14-16" arm extension
- 65" TV: Minimum 16-20" arm extension
- 75" TV: Minimum 20-24" arm extension
The exact extension needed depends on how deep the corner is and how close to the corner you're mounting.
Finding Studs in Corner Walls
Corner stud access is one of the biggest challenges:
- Interior corners always have studs — the two walls meet at framing members. But these studs may be right at the junction where you can't get a lag bolt at a good angle.
- Mount on one wall, close to the corner — position the mount 4-8" from the corner to reach the first standard stud on that wall
- For corner-specific mounts that bolt to both walls, you'll need stud access on both sides — our technicians verify this during every install
Cable Management in Corners
Corner cable routing is trickier than flat-wall installations because cables need to travel around or through the corner junction:
- In-wall routing: Cables enter the wall behind the TV and exit near floor-level outlets. In corners, this may require routing through one wall into the corner cavity. Our wire concealment service handles this seamlessly.
- Surface raceways: For situations where in-wall routing isn't possible, corner-profile cable raceways follow the corner junction and are nearly invisible when painted to match.
Corner Mounting in Specific Rooms
Living Room Corners
The most common corner installation. Works especially well in homes with a corner fireplace or rooms where the main wall has large windows. A full-motion mount lets you angle the TV toward the couch for everyday viewing and toward the dining area during parties.
Bedroom Corners
Perfect for bedroom TV mounting when the bed isn't centered on any wall. A corner mount with full swivel lets you watch from bed OR from a sitting area.
Kitchen Corners
Corner-mounted TVs in kitchens are incredibly practical — swivel toward the cooking area while preparing meals, then push flat when cooking is done.
💡 Pro Tip
Before choosing a corner mount, sit in your primary viewing position and hold up a piece of cardboard at the proposed TV size and angle. This simple test shows you exactly whether the TV will be visible from where you sit and at what angle you'll be watching.

Frequently Asked Questions
Can you mount a TV in a corner without a special mount?
Yes — most corner installations use a standard full-motion mount attached to one wall near the corner. Corner-specific mounts that bolt to both walls are available but not always necessary.
How far should a corner TV stick out from the wall?
When angled for viewing, a corner TV typically extends 12-20 inches from the wall. When pushed flat, most full-motion mounts keep the TV 3-5 inches from the wall surface.
Is corner mounting good for small rooms?
Absolutely. Corner mounting is one of the best solutions for small rooms because it eliminates the need for a TV stand and uses otherwise wasted corner space. The TV can be pushed flat against the wall when not in use.
Can you hide wires with a corner TV mount?
Yes. We route cables inside the wall from behind the TV to an outlet near the floor. Corner routing is slightly more involved than flat-wall routing but achieves the same clean, wire-free result.
