Project Summary
A Rome, GA homeowner converted part of their garage into a workout room and wanted a 42-inch TV mounted on the drywall wall between two windows for streaming workouts and scenery. We installed a full motion articulating mount and created a brand-new GFCI-protected outlet directly below the TV so the cord runs cleanly to a dedicated power source rated for the garage environment.
Installation Details
The 42-inch TV was mounted on the drywall garage wall using a heavy-duty full motion bracket secured into a wall stud with a heavy-duty toggle backup. The TV was centered between the two windows at standing/workout viewing height. A new GFCI-protected outlet was installed directly below the mount location so the power cord runs a short, clean distance straight down to dedicated garage-rated power. The articulating arm allows the screen to swivel toward different workout zones in the converted space.
Professional Techniques Used
Stud detection located one solid stud at the chosen mount position; the bracket was lag-bolted into the stud and reinforced with heavy-duty drywall toggle anchors for the second mounting point — more than adequate for the 42-inch TV's light weight on a full motion arm. A new GFCI-protected outlet was installed in the drywall directly below the TV using an old-work box, with code-compliant Romex pulled from the existing garage circuit. The TV was leveled and the articulation was tested through full extension and swivel range.
