Project Summary
A Dunwoody, GA homeowner wanted to extend their entertainment space onto their covered back patio with a 55-inch outdoor-friendly TV, a matching soundbar, and a brand-new weather-rated outlet behind the panel. The full motion mount was chosen so the screen can pivot toward the deck seating area, the grill, or back flush against the siding when not in use.
Installation Details
The 55-inch TV was installed on a heavy-duty full motion articulating mount anchored into the framing behind the Hardie board siding on the rear exterior wall, under the covered porch overhang for weather protection. A matching soundbar was mounted directly beneath the TV on its own dedicated bracket for clean audio alignment. We also installed a new exterior-rated outlet positioned directly behind the TV so both the TV and soundbar power cords are completely hidden from view.
Professional Techniques Used
Mounting points were located in the framing behind the fiber-cement siding and pre-drilled to prevent cracking, then through-bolted with stainless steel hardware rated for outdoor exposure. The new outlet was tied into the home's exterior circuit with a weather-resistant box and gasketed cover, code-compliant for outdoor use. The full motion arm was leveled and tested through full extension and swivel range with the TV mounted to confirm stability under load. The soundbar bracket was aligned flush beneath the TV for a clean stacked appearance.
