65-Inch TV Full Motion Mounted on a Brick Fireplace in Acworth, GA

An Acworth, GA homeowner wanted a 65-inch smart TV mounted on the painted brick chimney breast in their living room. Because the seating in this room is off to one side and the screen sits above the firebox, a full motion articulating mount was the right choice — it lets the TV pull off the brick, swivel toward the sofa, and tilt down for comfortable viewing.

The 65-inch panel was centered on the brick face above the firebox and set as low as the hearth and mantel line allowed so the screen sits closer to eye level. A heavy-duty full motion arm was anchored into solid brick so the TV can extend out from the wall, swivel toward either seating position, and tilt down to kill the reflection from the recessed ceiling light. Power and source cabling were routed neatly down the brick in the mortar line and dropped to the hearth-level connection so nothing crosses the face of the fireplace.

Brick is a completely different anchoring problem than drywall — every fastener was set into the solid brick face rather than the mortar joints, which are softer and will not hold the leverage load a fully extended articulating arm puts on the wall. Holes were hammer-drilled to precise depth and heavy-duty masonry sleeve anchors were torqued to spec, then the plate was laser-leveled against the chimney breast. Cable slack was measured through the arm's full extension, swivel, and tilt range so nothing pulls or binds at any position, and the assembly was extended, articulated, and load-tested before handoff.

The Acworth living room now has a 65-inch screen anchored solidly into brick above the fireplace that can be pulled out and aimed anywhere in the room, then pushed flat when not in use. Cabling is dressed down the brick instead of hanging loose, the masonry was drilled cleanly with no cracked face brick, and the installation is backed by our 5-year workmanship warranty.
