65-Inch TV Full Motion Mounted on Rock Fireplace in Woodstock, GA Living Room

A Woodstock, GA homeowner wanted their 65-inch Vizio mounted on the floor-to-ceiling stacked rock fireplace in their living room, above the dark wood mantel. Because the fireplace sits high in a corner-facing wall, a full-motion bracket was used so the screen can be pulled out and tilted down to comfortable seated eye level rather than locked flat against the stone.

The 65-inch Vizio was mounted on the stacked rock chimney breast directly above the rustic dark wood mantel, centered on the stone face and framed by the windows on either side. A full-motion articulating bracket lets the screen extend off the rock, tilt down toward the seating area, and swivel across the room — essential on a tall masonry fireplace where a fixed mount would leave the picture too high. Heat clearance above the gas firebox was measured before the plate position was set, and all cabling was routed behind the stone and mantel so nothing runs down the rock face.

Anchor placement on stacked rock is everything: holes were drilled into the solid faces of the stone, never the mortar joints, using a hammer drill with masonry bits. Heavy-duty masonry sleeve anchors were set and the full-motion plate was through-bolted to a load rating well beyond the panel's weight plus the leverage forces the articulating arm generates at full extension. The plate was laser-leveled across an intentionally uneven stone surface, with shimming used to keep the mount true against the irregular rock. Cabling was fished behind the stone and mantel, and the mount was load-tested through its complete extension, tilt, and swivel range before handoff.
