Project Summary
A Peachtree City, GA homeowner wanted their 85-inch TV mounted above their dramatic two-story stacked-stone fireplace, but still comfortable to watch from the great room sofa. We installed the MantelMount MM700 pull-down bracket directly into the stone, allowing the massive screen to drop down to eye level for movie nights and family viewing, then return cleanly above the wood mantel when not in use.
Installation Details
The 85-inch TV was mounted on the stacked-stone fireplace using the MantelMount MM700 — the heavy-duty pull-down bracket rated for 50–115 lb TVs and engineered for over-fireplace installs. The bracket was anchored directly into the stone using sleeve anchors rated for the TV's weight class plus the leverage of the articulating arms. The articulating arms allow the screen to drop down approximately 30 inches and pivot left/right for ergonomic seated viewing, then return flush above the rustic wood mantel. All cables were concealed inside the wall chase behind the stone for a clean, wire-free finish on the two-story chimney.
Professional Techniques Used
Pilot holes were drilled into solid stone (not mortar joints) at precisely measured locations using a hammer drill with masonry bits. Heavy-duty sleeve anchors were set into the stone and the MM700 bracket was through-bolted with the included hardware rated to safely support the 85-inch TV through its full pull-down and swivel range. The counter-balanced gas-spring arms on the MM700 were tuned for smooth one-handed operation despite the large screen's weight. In-wall cable routing kept the HDMI and power runs completely hidden, terminating at a recessed outlet behind the mounted position. Heat clearance from the gas fireplace below was measured and verified before final tightening.
