Project Summary
A West Midtown loft owner in a converted Blandtown warehouse wanted a 65-inch Sony mounted on the unit's original exposed brick wall. The full-motion mount was essential — the open-concept floor plan means the TV needs to swivel between the living area and the kitchen island. The homeowner wanted an industrial-modern aesthetic that celebrates the brick rather than hiding it.
Installation Details
The century-old exposed brick wall required careful assessment before any drilling. We tested multiple brick locations for integrity, avoiding any deteriorated mortar joints or cracked bricks. The full-motion arm was anchored using six Tapcon masonry screws driven into the densest brick sections, distributing the load across a wide area. The articulating arm extends 22 inches from the wall and provides 180-degree swivel range, allowing the TV to face the kitchen, dining area, or main seating zone.
Professional Techniques Used
A masonry bit at low RPM with water cooling was used to prevent brick cracking during drilling. Each anchor point was tested with a torque wrench before proceeding to the next. The wire concealment route followed the mortar line down to the baseboard, where cables transition into the wall cavity at the brick-to-drywall junction. A stainless steel cable guard was installed along the mortar route and painted to match the mortar color, creating an almost invisible cable path against the industrial brick backdrop.
