65-Inch Corner Full Motion TV Mount in a Dallas, GA Kids Bedroom

A Dallas, GA family wanted a 65-inch smart TV mounted in the corner of their kids bedroom so the screen could be seen from the bed and from the play area on the floor without eating up any floor space. Corner mounts are the most common request we get for kids rooms, and they are also the request most likely to be done wrong, because a corner rarely has framing where the mount wants to go.

The TV was hung on a heavy-duty full motion articulating arm anchored into the framing on one side of the corner, then swung out and angled across the corner so the panel faces the bed squarely. Height was set for a child watching from the bed and from the carpet, which is lower than a typical living room mount, and the arm was tensioned so the panel holds its angle instead of drifting. Power and the streaming device cable were routed out of sight behind the wall so there is nothing dangling within a child's reach, and the Onn/VIZIO smart TV was connected to the home WiFi and set up before we left.

We scanned and probed both walls of the corner to find real stud locations and any wiring before drilling, then set the mount plate into full stud body with structural lag bolts rated well beyond the panel and arm weight combined. Extension of a 65-inch panel out over a corner puts a lot of leverage on the plate, so the anchor points were chosen for maximum pull-out strength and the plate was laser-leveled to the ceiling line so the picture reads level even though the wall meets at an angle. The arm was cycled through its full range to confirm the panel clears the adjacent wall and the window trim, cable slack was dressed inside the arm channel so nothing pinches through the swing, and the whole assembly was load-tested at full extension.

The Dallas kids bedroom keeps every square foot of floor space, the 65-inch screen can swivel from the bed to the play area, and there are no exposed cords for a child to pull on.
