98-Inch TV Full Motion Mount in Living Room in Ellijay, GA

An Ellijay, GA mountain home owner invested in a 98-inch TV for their great room, which features vaulted ceilings and a wide open floor plan. A heavy-duty full motion mount was chosen so the massive screen could be angled toward different seating zones. A soundbar was also mounted below the TV to complement the cinematic experience.

The 98-inch TV required a commercial-grade full motion bracket rated for 150+ pounds, anchored across four wall studs using 3/8-inch lag bolts. A structural assessment confirmed the wall framing could support the extended load of the articulating arm at full extension. The soundbar was mounted on a dedicated bracket centered below the TV. A new in-wall power outlet and low-voltage cable plate were installed behind the TV position.

Quad-stud anchoring distributed the TV's 110-pound weight plus the leverage force of the full motion arm across a wide mounting plate. Each lag bolt was torqued to 35 ft-lbs for consistent clamping force. The articulating arm's tension was adjusted so the TV holds position at any angle without drifting. CL2-rated HDMI and optical audio cables were routed through a dedicated in-wall conduit.

The Ellijay great room is now a home theater with a 98-inch screen that can swivel to face the main sofa, the dining area, or the kitchen bar. The soundbar provides room-filling audio, all cables are hidden in the wall, and the heavy-duty mount ensures this massive TV is rock-solid at any viewing angle.
